Grant application information

When you apply for tuition assistance, we collect the information you enter on the application form, including your name, email address, phone number, your child's school, the number of children applying, your household size, and your description of your financial circumstances. This information is sensitive, and we handle it with the strict confidentiality described in Section 4.

Communications

If you email us or contact us through the site, we retain your message and contact details so we can respond and keep a record of our correspondence.

Technical information

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site secure, reliable, and functioning properly.

3Donations & Payment Processing

All donations are processed securely by Stripe, Inc., a leading PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. When you enter your card information, it is transmitted directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection.

Stripe sends an official payment receipt to the email address you provide with your donation. We retain a record of the donation (name, email, amount, date, and any dedication) for accounting, tax-reporting, and acknowledgment purposes.

4Grant Applicant Confidentiality

We understand that applying for tuition assistance requires sharing sensitive personal and financial details, and we treat that trust with the utmost seriousness.

• Grant applications are reviewed only by authorized members of the Lev Lev board.
• Your application, and the fact that you applied, is never disclosed to your child's school, synagogue, or anyone in your community.
• When a grant is approved, funds are disbursed directly to the school on the family's behalf, in a manner designed to protect the family's privacy and dignity.
• Application information is stored securely and access is limited to those who need it to review and administer grants.

Application form submissions are delivered to the board through a secure third-party form-delivery service and are received in the organization's protected email account (see Section 6).

5How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, ever. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers: With trusted vendors who help us operate (for example, our payment processor and website host), only to the extent necessary to provide their service, and under obligations to protect your data.
• Grant disbursement: When you are approved for a grant, we coordinate payment with your child's school. We share only what is necessary to apply the funds to the correct student's account.
• Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to comply with our obligations as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Lev Lev, our applicants, or others.

6Third-Party Services

Our website relies on a small number of reputable third-party services to function. Each has its own privacy practices:

• Stripe — processes donations and payments. Privacy policy.
• Cloudflare — hosts and delivers our website and processes standard technical/server data to keep it fast and secure. Privacy policy.
• Form-delivery service — securely transmits grant application form submissions to the Lev Lev board's email.
• Google Fonts — provides the typography used on the site.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites that we may link to. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

7Cookies & Analytics

We keep tracking to a minimum. Our website does not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertising networks. Essential cookies or similar technologies may be used by our payment processor and host to keep the site secure and to process donations. We do not build advertising profiles about you or track you across other websites.

8Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Donation and financial records are retained as long as required to meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations as a nonprofit. Grant application information is retained for the period necessary to review, administer, and document the assistance provided. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or anonymize it.

9Data Security

We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your information. Our website is served entirely over encrypted HTTPS connections, payment data is handled exclusively by our PCI-compliant processor, and access to sensitive information such as grant applications is limited to authorized board members.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is ever completely secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you share information with us at your own discretion.

10Children's Privacy

Our website and services are directed to parents, guardians, donors, and adults — not to children. Although our grants benefit children in Kindergarten through 5th grade, any information about a child is provided by the parent or guardian as part of an application. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, please contact us and we will delete it.

11Your Rights & Choices

You are in control of your information. At any time, you may:

• Access or correct the personal information we hold about you
• Request deletion of your information, subject to records we are legally required to keep
• Give anonymously — our donation form includes an option to withhold your name
• Opt out of any non-essential communications from us at any time
